Datastory.org is looking for a Senior UX/UI Designer with an interest in making humanity's knowledge accessible to everyone. Stockholm-based or remote. Full-time.
Keywords: Product design, democratizing knowledge, design systems, interdisciplinary team
Datastory is an organization devoted to explaining important issues using open data and visualization. We use modern technology, user experience design and storytelling – in short ‘data stories’ – to democratize knowledge. It's a natural evolution of the Encyclopedia, one better aligned with how humans learn and the amounts of data available to humanity today.
Our goal is to make scientific research and data as accessible as Netflix, mobile games or funny cat videos so that more people can participate in the democratic dialogue on equal terms. If more people have access to knowledge, we will have better conversations. With rich overviews and explanations – a click away – it will be easier for anyone to track societal progress, contribute ideas and hold politicians to account whether we're debating economy, healthcare or education. With new technology and workflows, we also want to help researchers make their critical findings widely known sooner, and with more richness and depth, than traditional communication and media. Leveraging data stories and open data, Datastory can offer a shortcut to an audience. Datastory is being developed by a team of data scientists, data journalists, project leaders, developers and designers.
As a Senior UX/UI designer, you'll be developing entirely new sections of Datastory.org, including but not limited to new landing pages, templated pages, custom immersive data experiences and data-driven essays.
You'll work together with our data journalists, illustrators and developers to build a sustainable knowledge platform that serves millions of users per year.
